Hope

I have had the privilege of spending five days at Spring Harvest in Minehead with old and new friends from the Hayes Methodist churches. The theme running through those five days was HOPE. What a harvest we received! We were led by various speakers into looking and reliving again the stories and events of
  1. The woman caught in adultery - John 8:1-11
  2. The raising of Lazarus - John 11
  3. Feeding the five thousand - John 6:1-13
  4. The road to Emmaus - Luke 24:13-35
  5. In each story we saw people who were in hopeless situations, and how Jesus brought healing freedom and HOPE into their lives.

In the evenings we ended every day with praise and thanksgiving. To join in with so many brothers and sisters in Christ, singing and praising our God was like having a taste of what one day it will be like when we meet up with all the Hosts of Heaven and our loved ones in Eternity.

This year many churches throughout our country will be involved with HOPE 2008. This is a united mission to go out and show Christ's love and to serve the needy and suffering people in our communities.

We perhaps can do this by gardening, cleaning, shopping, working with children etc. We are called to show Christ's love by coming alongside people, just as Jesus did, and bring them light and hope where they feel hopeless. Through the Magazine I would like to say thank you so much my friends for many moments shared and times spent together. Thank you to Beryl and Colleen for the many laughs we shared in our chalet - we really feasted well! Thank you to Jongi for the telephone call received by all of us when we returned home - this was so thoughtful and much appreciated.

And, a special word of thanks to Pat for all your organizing and taking such wonderful care of all of us.

To finish, two things stand out for me from my time with you all at Spring Harvest -
    • We all of us at times have been in situations that seem hopeless. We need to know God is the only one who can take the LESS out of the word HOPELESS and give us just HOPE through Jesus.
    • There will be times in our lives when we will wonder where God is. What a blessing it is to know that God our Father always knows exactly where we are. His word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our paths. He has promised never to forsake or leave us.
His blessings to you all. Photo of Joyce
