Messy Church

The messy altar cloth

Messy Church is now in it's 5th month and, although numbers vary from month to month, seems to be attracting a lively, creative group of adults and youngsters.

Our themes have included Creation, Easter and, this month's theme was Flowers to celebrate our coming Flower Festival. Crafts on offer vary from session to session, but there is always at least one very messy offering. This month we were creating hand print lilies that will form part of the Messy Church flower arrangement in the Flower Festival on June 7th.

Our short Celebration time in the church has everyone up and joining in, whether it's joining in the action songs or volunteering to take the parts in short dramas which are prepared by the teenagers attending. To close, one of the children leads us in a short prayer before we retire to the hall for a meal. It seems that most months we celebrate someone's birthday by sharing cakes in varying forms.

We are still learning and refining our timetable and craft offerings, amongst other things, but hope that those who attend have a fun, family time and continue to join us as we enjoy getting messy! Our next session on Saturday 28th June from 5pm to 6.30pm and we look forward to welcoming more families to have fun together.

Some photos from our sessions can be found here.
