Easter Weekend 2008![]() As the story was retold using readings from the Gospels we were encouraged to think again about what these events mean for us today, both personally and as a community. ![]() Despite the gloomy weather forcasts for Easter Sunday which included sub-zero temperatures and snow, around 30 people from the churches in Southall, Hayes and Uxbridge gathered at Minet Country Park by 5.30am for the annual Sunrise Service. Because of the temperature it was decided to hold the service, led by our own Minister, in the Lodge. Most of us were very grateful for the shelter and even those who weren't decided it had been a good idea after they'd been outside for a walk afterwards! The act of worship was lively as we celebrated our risen Lord and his lasting promises to those who believe in him.
As the service ended with prayers for our local communities and the work of A Rocha, we settled down to enjoy a hearty breakfast prepared for us by members of St. Johns in Southall. As we ate, we chatted and met people from other parts of the Church in our local area - not something we get the opportunity to do as often as we should. After the service we headed home to prepare to celebrate the risen Lord with our own church communities. After leading a 9.30am service at Hayes, Jongi again led worship at Hayes End at 11am. During the Sunrise Service Jongi had learnt a new song (others of us had been reminded of it) and was sure we should all learn it with him and so it was added into his order of service, successfully according to those present! And yes it did snow as the picture below shows! ![]() |
