Hayes End Bugle BandThe band was formed out of the original Boys Brigade band in order to allow members from both Brigades that meet at our church to take part. The band has members from 8 to adult and many of the people who teach the instruments were themselves members of the band. The two main instruments played are the bugle and side drum, but we also have bell lyres and a base drum. The band has played at numerous events locally and, as part of the London Band, has played both nationally and internationally giving its members opportunities they might not have had to meet with young people from different places. Jesus And Me ClubThe Jesus And Me Club (JAM Club) is for youngsters aged from 3 to 11. The aim is to teach about Jesus in ways appropriate to the age of the group. This includes using stories, songs and crafts. The age groups and meeting places are as follows:
Y GroupThis is the discussion group that meets every Sunday to talk about subjects relating to Christianity, the Bible and life in general as it affects young people. It is aimed at those between the age of 11 and 18 who want to find out more about being a Christian and what it means for their lives. We meet in the Doctors Room off the Main Hall.Junior ChoirYoungsters meet to learn and sing songs old and new and have fun at the same time. The choir are regular performers at Sunday services and their contribution is always appreciated by the congregation. At least once every 6 weeks all our young people come together for a special worship and praise service which is held in the main hall. Parent & ToddlersOn Monday mornings about 35 children together with their mums, grandmas, carers or even the occasional dad, meet in the church hall from 10 until midday. The children are aged from birth up to 3 or 4 when they go into a play group or nursery. There are lots of toys for the children to play with - a quieter corner for the younger ones - a home corner, with cooker, play food, etc - a garage with cars - a puzzle table and lots of books and building blocks, etc. We try to have a special craft table each week with painting, card making, icing biscuits and so on, All sessions end with singing songs.Occasionally we have a clothes sale, book sale or a chocolate party. Once a term our Minister comes along to take a special Toddler Service at the end of one of the sessions. In all, there is plenty to do - do you know of a toddler who might like to have his or her name on our waiting list? If so send us an email with a contact number and we'll be in touch. |
